Design Brief

A Balanced Life
You manage your studies why not manage your diet.

What is the Project? What is the Task at hand?
- Create a PSA to educate Marymount students about proper eating habits.
- Busy college students don’t always have time to prepare their own healthy meals instead they eat fast food and other quick and unhealthy options that might hinder their personal and mental well being.
-By creating a PSA to post around school might help students make better eating choices which will in turn make them them feel better about both mentally and physically.
- Educating Marymount students about helpful eating habits that they will learn and apply to the rest of their lives.

Why are we doing it? What is the problem or opportunity?
- We are doing this to help keep young people healthy while at college.
- The current problem is making unhealthy eating choices at Marymounts’ dining facilities. This in turn raises the demand for more unhealthy dining options currently being offered. Example: If the majority of people are choosing pizza over salads the offering of a variety of salads could diminish.
- The opportunity at hand is to raise the demand for healthy and quick eating options that Marymount could offer students.

Who is it really for? And why should they care?
- This PSA is primarily for MU students
- The reason they should care about this is that healthier eating habits leads to better studying habits along with better work ethics.
- They also should care about how they look. We live in a society that praises people who look like they can take care of them selves physically, this carries over to the interview process once students get out of MU and apply for jobs. The truth is that an employer would see that if you look healthy and can take care of your self then you are to be taken more seriously then someone who doesn’t look healthy.

Where and how will it be used? When?
- Posters are to be hung up around campus and outside of dining residences to help remind students.
- PSA’s could extend into the dorms to further emphasize healthy eating choices outside of school.

Who will become engaged with it directly and indirectly?
- Student will be engaged with it directly along with faculty and staff who help contribute to the dining choices. If we show them that their needs to be a positive and supportive environment that makes eating healthy foods quick and easy for students.

How will it be remembered and retold?
- A clever enough logo and or image along with a catchy message will help deliver the PSA successfully.
- Possible shock value of the image or message.
- Also he placement and creativity of the PSA will carry the message in a clear and concise manner.

What needs to be done?
- There needs to be a change to the current way students are eating and their perceptions of healthy eating.
-  The healthy food offerings of MU’s dinning services needs to be improved along with the quality of their current options.
